An Amazing Campo del Cielo Meteorite in a handmade wooden frame mounted on high-quality acid-free conservation board. The Latin and common names are printed underneath the specimen.
The Campo del Cielo Meteorite is a shiny solid piece of debris from an object such as a comet, asteroid, or meteoroid that originates in outer space and survives its journey through the atmosphere to reach the surface of a planet or moon, in this case, Earth. When the meteor enters the atmosphere, various factors such as friction, pressure and chemical interactions with the atmospheric gases cause it to heat up and radiate heat. It then becomes a meteor and forms a fireball that is known as a shooting star or a falling star.
These meteors are believed to be 4.5 billion years old.
