The Hercules Moth in a handmade wooden frame mounted on high-quality acid-free conservation board. The Latin and common names are printed underneath the specimen.
The Hercules moth, is from the family Saturniidae, it is endemic to New Guinea and northern Australia. First described by William Henry Miskin in 1876. Female adults have a wingspan of about 27 centimetres (11 in), making it one of the largest moths found in Australia, its wings have the largest documented surface area (300 square centimeters) of any living insect.
