The Carolina Sphinx Moth belongs to the Sphingidae family of Moths. It is a common model organism, especially in neurobiology, due to its easily accessible nervous system and short life cycle. It is used in a variety of biomedical and biological scientific experiments.
Its wingspan reaches 6-8 centimeters (2.6-3.4 in).
